MEP CHICHESTER TO VISIT COMBINED UNIVERSITIES OF CORNWALL
FALMOUTH – MONDAY 20 JUNE
Dr Sue Brownlow, the Director of the Combined Universities of Cornwall, has invited Giles Chichester, Conservative MEP for South West England and Gibraltar, to a briefing on the Universities’ recent education and research programmes. The briefing meetings will take place from 11.30 am on Monday 20 June at the Tremough Campus of University College Falmouth.
During his visit, Giles will meet with senior academics heading the University of Exeter’s Environment and Sustainability Institute and be briefed on its research and activity programmes. They will also update him on recent research being carried out in Marine Renewable Energy fields.
Visits have also been arranged for Giles to the Design Centre and Performance Centre of University College Falmouth. He will be informed by Deputy Rector, Professor Geoff Smith, of the University’s current research programme and, in particular, plans for the new Academy for Innovation and Research. This specialist institution for art, design, media and performance, working closely with the creative industries and other sectors, will be the home of research and business collaboration at University College Falmouth.
The Combined Universities of Cornwall are a partnership of 6 universities – Exeter University, University College Falmouth, Truro College, Penwith College, Plymouth Peninsular College of Medicine and Cornwall College. They offer university level and short courses, distance and online courses, a wide range of research programmes in specialist fields and services in support of business.
